What's in a name?

Morning all,

my s/n is minervalong because i am a huge heinlein fan. she is one of a huge family that all take the last name long. minerva was a construct of all the best of them, and since i try to absorb the best of the people in my life, it just seemed logical.

The commuter rail I used each workday for years to travel to the Loop and back home is named Windsor Park!

Several years ago my husband and I moved to a different state and I took the first job available - at a goose farm. Of course, my family immediately reminded me of when my mother dressed me up as a goosegirl (I was 5 yrs old and had NO idea what a goosegirl was!) for a costume party - complete with a little wooden staff, peasant blouse, and old-fashioned poofy peasant skirt. At almost 50 yrs old, the family still calls me The Goosegirl, and when they call they always ask if I am still 'goosing'.

PS - The goose farm office had a painting hanging in it of a little goosegirl with a staff, in the little peasant get-up herding a few geese. I guess mom was right!

My name is from my work......I'm a labor and delivery RN.

I worked at AOL in Customer Support in 1999 (when all the computers were rumored to be crashing due to the new Milenium). We had reached 22 million customers that year and on a typical day, we'd take about 125 calls each. They would consist of resetting passwords, reactivating accounts, a lot of misc. calls and a few each day where the caller was not happy with their username, asking for help creating a new one. Coming up with original names never seemed all that difficult, once I knew what they liked or had an idea what they wanted.

So, I discover the SFG Forum and two minutes later, EatYourVeggies is my new user name. Some folks like having the same one for everything, I have a different one for every hobby, and every hobby these days seems to have its own forum.

Actually Curio is the prefix I have been breeding and showing AKC Italian Greyhounds with since 1987. I chose it as a kennel prefix because a "curio" is basically something that is small and unique that has value to the owner (even if it has no value to anyone else).
That sort of describes a garden. Especially when your neighbors all think you're a complete nut job. I mean... who gets excited over getting worms in the mail, bringing home 60 "gallons" of rabbit poop and getting a leaf shredder???

My name is one I have used since the 90's when My wife and I were part of a native tribe called the Assatuague Peoples. Our sponsor gave me my name as "Heart of the Wolf" with the shortened form being WolfHeart. It has stuck ever since as my online persona

Plantoid..... sounded a reasonable name as I'm an avid gardener of 45 yrs experience . the " oid " bit was a genetic modification



Talking to my eldest brother about the name he said that in the early & mid 1950's there used to be a 2 pound pack of pink Nitrogen Phosphate Potassium slow release fertilizer tablets called Plantoids that would be pushed in the the soil along side all sorts of plants to bring them on .

I looked on line for them or a gallery picture but can't find any such reference ... perhaps my mind recalled the packs , for evidently Mum & Dad used them to try and get their small holding market garden enterprise going .

When he started to describe the picture on the pack / box I was able to draw it and complete the colouring.

Nothing exciting here, my name was taken so I added the first letter of my surname.

I'm not very original when it comes to online names or logins, I usually stick to some variation of my name/surname/year of birth/street number.

On another site where I wanted to be a bit anonymous I used peamco which was an acronym hubby and I made up after our first child was born, not accurate anymore since we now have another child!

Well I got my name because I want friends and family to say, when they see my garden, "Those are too tall tomatoes!"

My screen name is a play on my name and one of my hobbies...rubber stamping...which I can't take 100% credit for coming up with. My last name begins with Givv____, first name Michelle. My SIL is Melissa, and her email is givvme...I thought that was pretty neat, so when I started selling rubber stamps & paper crafts accessories through direct sales, I decided GivvMiStamps would be my handle. I now sell through another direct-sales company under GivvMiGreen because it offers Eco-friendly, organic, chemical-free, recycled & free trade products for every aspect of your life....and I meant to make that my screen name here but rushed through the signup process and wound up with the first name instead. No biggie, I like both green and stamps.

Wow I really enjoyed reading how everyone came up with their screen names! Mine is obviously just my name; I'm usually more creative but I was so excited to join the forum that I didn't take time to come up with something more clever

Bluphrog comes from the Peter, Paul and Mary song "I'm in love with a Big Blue Frog". The last lines are "it's not as bad as it appears, it's spelled P H R O G, that's frog to me. P - H - R - O - G!" And "blu" is just a shortcut for blue.

I like frogs, and friends do give me little frog knicknacks.

Then there's the joke about the frog that hops into the bank and asks for a loan. The loan officer, Ms. Merrimac, is somewhat puzzled, but starts to fill out the forms (please note that the frog is very articulate). The frog tells the LO that he is Mick Jagger's son. When the LO asks the frog if he has any collateral, the frog takes a small pouch from his pocket. The LO opens the pouch, takes out a small figurine, turns it upside down and over and around. She excuses herself and goes in to talk to the VP. She gives the figurine to the VP and explains about the frog. She tells the VP that she has no idea what the figurine is supposed to be. The VP says (wait for it - - - -) "It's a knicknack, Merrimac, give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone."

I'm a frog lover too, Bluphrog; I have a collection of frog knick knacks as well. I like the way you came up with your name.

I played World of Warcraft for about 4 years under the name Fantasma. After countless hours answering to the name on Skype, it's pretty much become my nickname. As well as Fanta and Fan. My gaming friends still don't call me by my real name!

I quit playing in December. It's amazing how much you can get done when you don't have to be online for raid 5 nights a week!

there used to be a time when your login WAS your email and then you couldnt pick a screen name so everyone now calls me kbb, well in puzzle pirates they do hahaha

Memart1 comes from my initials M E M and the fact that I love all kinds of arts and crafts. I read a lot and most of the time it is a how-to book. Currently I have a website and a ceramic shop called MEM-Art Ceramics and when I wanted that for my email my internet company suggested I add the number 1. Occasionally I will use the name claylady.
