Hello from Frisco, TX!
So happy to have found this site!
We have two 4x4 gardens with Mel's mix. My son wanted them to look like tic-tac-toe boxes for the fall. Hope to learn from everyone here!

Hi neighbor!
Welcome to the boards. I am your neighbor in McKinney! I am starting with my first garden and planted my carrot seeds just tonight. Since its going to be cold for a few nights then hopefully they will germinate quickly. Good luck with your gardens!

Re: Hello from Frisco, TX!
Outstanding garden...has me thinking I'd rather have 3x3s than 4x4s next year (since I'm re-sizing a two former 4x8x0.5 raised beds I can re-use the cedar).
Did you get this terrific result solely from using MM, or did you supplement over the season?

Re: Hello from Frisco, TX!
Thanks!
This is Mel's Mix by the book with no supplements. Used the following composts:
Lady Bug All American Turkey Compost
Nature's Guide Cotton Burr Compost
Nature's Guide Mushroom Compost
Nature's Guide Earthworm Castings
Lady Bug Farm Style Compost (Dairy Manure)
I've got 3 gourd varieties up front, Cinderella pumpkins across center and buttercup squash in the back. Now, if I can keep the frost off the leaves for the next month!
Going 3x3 in this situation was a must with these enormous sun hungry leaves!

Re: Hello from Frisco, TX!
I'll be on the lookout here in NM for the composts you used...although I've found that availability is sometimes regional.
Again...kudos on an absolutely gorgeous garden!

Gourds are almost ready and radishes taste wonderful! Hope to have the buttercup squash ready in a couple weeks.

Howdy neighbor - in what part of Frisco do you live? We are in a little dip between hills and the cold weather killed my fall green beans...
