Anyone out there on Long Island?
Hi, I'm just getting started on L.I. with SFG - in Huntington township. Is there anyone else out there in my area? Trying to decide on the Amish boxes or vinyl. That's how new I am. (Actually, I do have one box I built a couple of years ago, grew some cukes, that's it!) -Marie

Re: Anyone out there on Long Island?
Hi MarieRose and
We are so happy to have you join us. There are some people on the forum from New York state but I don't know if there are any from L.I. Although I am not from your area, not even from your country, I wanted to welcome you just the same. I am on the opposite side of the continent from you in British Columbia, Canada.
I have only seen pics of the Amish boxes. They looked pretty nice. My preference is always wood over vinyl but that is just me. Best of luck with your gardening. You will find that the SFG way is awesome.
Don't be afraid to ask questions or join in the goofiness that sometimes goes on here. Also, post pics too if you can. They are always welcome. Hope to see more of you on here.

Sorry, I am not on your coast either, but I did want to welcome you to our group.
Is your older box filled with Mel's Mix and ready to go? At least that will give you an area to plant right now.
Like Old Hippie, my personal preference is wood over vinyl.
Please keep us posted on your progress, and share pictures too!

Re: Anyone out there on Long Island?

Sorry I too am not in your region. I think having Mel's Mix in your box is more important that what it is made out of so just get what you like and can afford, fill it up with MM and let the fun begin.

Can't wait to see pics of your garden.
