full on assault!

well in one day we had powdery mildew all over our cucumber leaves. one day! My approach will be an Apocalypse Now full on assault.

napalm ingredients: neem oil, milk, and baking soda in one glorious mix.

i sprayed the tops and undersides of the leaves and removed all the yellow leaves and any leaves touching the ground.
either the mildew is going to give in and die or the whole cucumber plant is going. I have 16 cucumber plants growing to a height of about 6 feet and i would hate to see them go but i have too much invested in my other plants to let this bring down the garden.

I've noticed everyone has problems with powdery mildew and they try one of the aforementioned strategies of neem oil, milk, or baking soda mixed with water alone..

since i don't want the mildew spreading to the rest of the garden, something needs to go. mildew death or bust! the mission is very critical and victory is our only option.

Just thought I'd add a powdery mildew treatment that I've seen results with. I had miniature roses that developed it, and (after poking around online) I sprinkled the plants and the dirt around them liberally with plain yellow cornmeal.

The powdery mildew left, and the roses filled back out. I had to repeat the treatment a few months later, but I figure that's because it was humid, and we were on the north side of the building.

By the way, do not use cornmeal on very young seedlings, as it can actually kill them or seriously retard their growth. Strange, but apparently true.

Just want to wish you luck! I fought off a bit on my bush squash late last week using the cornmeal tip, but now I've got it going full force on my Tatume (vining) squash. Tried the milk mixture this morning.

No offense, but keep that stuff down there in the valley.... we don't need no stinkin' SVB up here....
