Squash question

HEllo!
THis is our first year SFGing and had a hard time getting diversified compost. We did the best we could and planted. WE bought some healthy crooked neck squash and planted them. Several days later I planted zucchini in the same box. THe zucchini is growing like crazy! Deep green large leaves are popping out. BUT the crooked neck is growing VERY slowly and looking light green and some of the leaves are turning yellow.

Same issue in the other boxes. Some things are thriving some not. ANy suggestions?

I had an interesting conversation with the owner of an organic gardening store this morning. We were talking about bagged composts and he asked me if any of my pepper plants were looking a little yellow. I said actually 1 is. The other squares are all looking very green. He was saying that so many of the cow manure composts are not fully composted and just done enough so that it doesn't burn the plants. He said that it's possible that that one area of my blended composts is not as well mixed as the others and that the still composting manure is stealing the nitrogen. He gave me a gallon jug of brewed compost tea and said "here, try this". So I came home and poured some on all the peppers. This store gives a gallon of compost tea each time you visit the store if you bring your own jug.

I was really disappointed in the quality of the compost after being educated on that topic. I guess I'll be brewing me some tea!

I too have crook neck and zuchinni, my crook necks are coming along slower than the zukes, I started from seed on the same day, stuck them in the ground on the same day, and yes, stuck them in the same 8x4 bed. They've done fine before and are doing okay this year, but I have notices more yellowing on the crook neck leaves, I just cut them back, give a bit of tea, and they do just fine.
