Re: Friday's Rookie Post III...Sunroots!
They get to me the first day; but, as I use up this harvest over a week or two, they won't bother me.
Oddly, my wife who is prone to suffer from gassy food, is not bothered at all!

Epazote, Winter Savory, or any of the other herbs commonly used to help with gassy foods can help.
Re: Friday's Rookie Post III...Sunroots!
I have just been researching sun chokes and found this thread, GREAT thread.
I have ordered a KG of them and so we will see. My property is perfect for these as I have total sun and LOTS of space.
I have read where the sun chokes can be made into flour.
Anyone else growing them this year.
I guess I have always found that the centre of globe artichokes remind me somewhat of potatoes, so am very curious about the taste of these.

Re: Friday's Rookie Post III...Sunroots!
Hi
I just stuck four of them in my garden! The supermarket had bags of nice looking roots, never seen them here before. I've never actually eaten one but it seems like every chef on tv is using them these days so I will give them a go. If they haven't grown much by the autumn then I can just leave them over the winter and let them grow on again next year.
