Potatoes and summer
Another question about potatoes. I read somewhere that the best time to
grow potatoes is Fall and early spring. Is there a problem with
growing them during the summer? I'm in Tennessee and we have HOT
summers. I heard that the high temps could stunt the growth. I have
about 10 potato plants peeking through the ground. Have never grown
them before and am really excited about the possible outcome.

Re: Potatoes and summer
I'm not sure... It's my first year growing potatoes. I was told to start them in the spring(alot start them on st patty day). Stop covering them when they flower and then wait for the plants to die back. I figure this would be a good year to try it out. I am trying to grow them in bags, and am worried about the heat. I figure the only thing that can happen is it won't work and then I'll know to try another time/ something different. Maybe someone else can answer better than I can!
Re: Potatoes and summer
I tried growing potatoes in burlap coffee bean bags last year and it was ridiculously hot and dry all summer long. I got out as many potatoes as I put in. I am trying them in their own high rise box this year and hoping for better results.
