Birdhouses at last.
This year was my first garden and my first try at growing gourds for birdhouses. I wound up with ten gourds, but lost some to rot in the drying process. They weren't as large as I would have liked, but hopefully the birds will enjoy some of them, and if not, they are decorative, at least.

Wow, they look great! I got a couple of birdhouse gourd seeds in a trade but the slugs got them before they got a chance to grow
Re: Birdhouses at last.
They look realy nice, :tiphat: I hope the birds like them after all the work that has gone into them.
You should do a little tutorial so we can make them here in the UK.

I had absolutely NO interest in growing these until I saw yours! Holy cow! Awesome! Beautiful....I love them.
Hubby does wood burning. And he was saying he would like to try and burn a gourd like that. But I don't want to grow them and then he not be able to burn it. Ugh! Can I just buy one somewhere that he could test on?

Yes, you can do some great work with wood burning on a gourd.

and you can buy all types of gourds on eBay, and probably elsewhere online. They aren't very common in craft stores, from what I've seen.

Re: Birdhouses at last
I was able to buy a couple of birdhouse gourds at a farmer's market. They were fun to shop for!
