Re: Trying to Find Strawberry Seeds
It takes 3 years for strawberries to get fruit if you grow a plant from seed. You better try to get small plants, which are grown by the plants themself.

Re: Trying to Find Strawberry Seeds
yeah, I don't think you want strawberry seeds. I think I read that the seeds are not likely to be too successful. like how seeds from a hybrid apple might not grow apples just like the mother plant.
Strawberry plants self propagate by putting out runners, so you're better off buying a small plant, rooting the runners, and propagating more plants that way. realize that the mother plant you're allowing to self propagate won't make many berries. plants have to choose between fruit and expansion.
sorry i'm not full of proper terminology this morning. my first cup of coffee is still full to the brim.

Re: Trying to Find Strawberry Seeds
Although I agree with the others, (you would be better off starting from a small plant or bare root).. I did happen to see strawberry seeds at Ace Hardware just last week. (I see you're in Sterling... I think you have an Ace there otherwise the closest Ace would be in Brush.. I think.. obviously I'd call before making the trip). I will say though that Ace had a great selection of seeds for unusual varieties of veggies.. like the Jarrahdale Pumpkins (also called 'Once in a blue moon' for their light blue hue. I'm so excited to see if they grow for me down in So Co.
Oh.. back to the strawberries. I bought 50 everbearing strawberries (bare root) from Gurney's (the online nursery) for $9.95 and they are doing great in one of my 4x6 boxes! It's too late to get them this year, but maybe next spring.
Happy Gardening!

Re: Trying to Find Strawberry Seeds
I have strawberry plants, but they are not doing well Gurney will replace in the spring if they don't grow.
My daughter just wanted some strawberry seeds for a propogation project and to try in the garden.
We know they take a long time.
Our Ace in Sterling didn't have any of those seeds, but they sound fun. We did get some unique gourd seeds and flower seeds from them.
