Yes, surprising that we are so hot and dry this early in the year. I am so glad that all of the beds have drip irrigation on a timer. Last evening they got an extra watering, though, while I was applying the second batch of beneficial nematodes.

OG-What are beneficial nematodes and why do you add/apply them? Have not heard about that before.

They destroy a long list of pests, including slugs, snails, sowbugs, grubs, and root knot nematodes.
There is a lengthy discussion about them on this post: https://squarefoot.forumotion.com/t15877p25-beneficial-nematodes?highlight=Nematodes
For a list of pest controlled, check out this chart: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1373/5481/files/NGGBNL5-Beneficial-Nematodes-Bulk-Label_FRONT_0a7601bc-9fc6-46cf-b781-bc8f36191de5.jpg?v=1683749582

I'm going to look into that because I have alot of sow bugs in my soil. Eating my baby plants!

If sowbugs are the only problem, or even if there are both sowbugs and slugs, you might be able to quickly control them with Sluggo Plus (make sure it is the Plus).

We make a copy of Olive Garden's Zuppa Toscana soup which makes Kale irresistible.
We use this recipe:

I took advantage of this cool weather we are having by us (58 degrees today!) to make this recipe using up the last of the frozen kale from last season. It is cooking as I write this, my house smells amazing! Thanks again for sharing!
