One of my pet peeves is poor use of English. I am just as much to blame as anyone else.
The following may help:
https://tinyurl.com/y9hmsnuu
Unfortunately, they do not address the difference between lie and lay. As for example,
If he is laying on the ground then what is a he laying? Is he a chicken laying eggs?
The following may help:

BUT please do not let my pet peeve stop you from posting.
End rant.

I'm trying to remember to add a title when I reply to a message that needs a "tag." For example, if I'm replying to something in a regional thread that really applies to all of us, like "composting" or "growing strawberries." I usually remember right after I hit "Send."

If that causes you problems imagine being an Englishman who speaks the Queens English & finds that " Americaneese " is taking over his life
In the USA you have so many different races & tongues from all over the globe that only recently ( 250 years or less ) arrived on the shores etc it's no wonder that there are great differences in spellings & words to describe or explain things .
The best things is to see if you can understand what's being said then translate it mentally to your own tongue or better still just accept it & get on with things .
It was like having to learn a new language for me when I joined this site & even harder when I started to do several MOOC's produced in places from all over the world .
The most difficult thing was for me to do a USA originated MOOC about better english ....
Ha ha , I binned that one after week six for it was like learning English as a second language .

Re: Gooder Posts
ONLY THE ENGLISH COULD HAVE INVENTED THIS LANGUAGE
We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes,
But the plural of ox becomes oxen, not oxes.
One fowl is a goose but two are called geese,
Yet the plural of moose should never be meese.
You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice,
Yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.
If the plural of man is always called men,
Then shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?
If I speak of my foot and show you my feet,
And I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?
If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth,
Why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth?
Then one may be that, and three would be those,
Yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
And the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
But though we say mother, we never say methren.
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him,
But imagine the feminine: she, shis and shim!
