HELP!! I have mushrooms everywhere!
I live in central california and have tons of mini mushrooms growing throughout my boxes. What can I do? Is this OK??

not sure what kind you have but if you don't want them to multiply keep cultivating them and tossing them in the trash. If one ever releases it's spores they'll be back next year.

Re: HELP!! I have mushrooms everywhere!
I've never been much interest in mushrooms, not even as a college student.
Shrooms thrive in our damp climate, and I get them every spring in some of my boxes. I'm sure I help them along by using mushroom compost! I just brush them aside or pick them like any other weed.
When our summers are hot they disappear. If we have a cooler, wetter summer they continue to grow in the shade of larger plants. Not a problem.
I don't know if my experience is applicable to your mushrooms.

Re: HELP!! I have mushrooms everywhere!
It has been cooler and wetter than normal this year in our part of California. I feel better knowing this is not totally unusual. I guess I felt like this was some type of bad fungus growing throughout my box and it would be bad for my veggies. Thanks for your insight!

Re: HELP!! I have mushrooms everywhere!
I am in so cal and I have had the same problem. At least it gives me something to do in the garden. I have just been pulling them out and cutting back a little on the watering. I figured it was a sign that the beds were moist enough. Am going to let every square except for those with brand new seeds in them dry out a bit. And in so cal how much water they get is entirely up to me from now until October

Re: HELP!! I have mushrooms everywhere!
Did I read in another thread that part of your compost mix was mushroom compost? That compost batch may not have fully 'cooked' before it was bagged, so you got a lot of mushroom spores in the batch. As other people have said, it's best to just keep picking them BEFORE they open their gills to release spores.
Good luck!
Good luck!
