Re: Senseless Banter...
We did a tour of the Kingston Penitentiary in Kingston, Ontario. It was opened in 1835 and closed in 2013. It housed some of Canada's worst criminals. It's now open for tours. So they finally caught up with me and put me in one of the cells. After this tour we traveled along the shore of the St.Lawrence River to Brockville, Ontario where we spent some time watching sailboats. The USA can be seen across the river in the photo. Some big ships travel the St.Lawrence Seaway to get to ports on the Great Lakes in both Canada and the USA. The one in the photo is from the Netherlands.

At least they left your door open so you didn't suffocate, lol!

And that was one of the "modern" cells. The originally cells from the 1800s were only half that width ... just enough room for a narrow bed on the floor and no walking space. Would not have worked well for an inmate who was claustrophobic.AtlantaMarie wrote:At least they left your door open so you didn't suffocate, lol!

Looks like it was a nice day. I used to inspect jails and prisons. I never could have survived the 4 walls.
Re: Senseless Banter...
So at Equifax allows a breach on my account and then they want five bucks for me to freeze it? Seriously???

They collect our information without our permission and then don't have decent security! I have to register cuz I am one affected also. There is already a class action lawsuit started and going by other class action lawsuits, you will automatically be added to it. You can opt out and sue them separately but I think you may have to pay some upfront legal fees.

I have not been on here for awhile and have been reading some old and new and it makes me feel like I am back with friends and of course those who have the same interests as me. I don't know why I kept getting too distracted with other things. I love this site!

A post from the comments below the FTCs Equifax data breach page:
Please take note, that the fine print for the Premier credit monitoring service offered by Equifax states that in accepting their offer, you waive the right to participate in any class-action lawsuit brought against them regarding the matter.

Scratch the above. Equifax just waved the waiver. They are offering Identity Theft Protection here:

Re: Senseless Banter...
And what about the selling of shares by executives ... what I would call insider trading. How could the execs not know about the problem? How can they run a company and not know what is going on? One of these guys is the Chief Financial Officer!
From http://globalnews.ca/news/3727677/equifax-data-hack-canada/
Three Equifax executives sold shares worth a combined $1.8 million just a few days after the company discovered it had been hacked, according to documents filed with securities regulators. In a subsequent statement, Equifax said the three executives “had no knowledge that an intrusion had occurred at the time they sold their shares.”
From https://www.cnbc.com/2017/09/07/equifax-cyberattack-three-executives-sold-shares-worth-nearly-2-million-days-after-data-breach.html
The fillings showed that the trio – Chief Financial Officer John Gamble Jr., workforce solutions president Rodolfo Ploder and U.S. information solutions president Joseph Loughran – offloaded the shares on August 1 and August 2.

That really ticks me off! So apparently they give you a date after telling you you're breached ( I had to do it again because I didn't notice the first time) and we're supposed to sign up for anti-theft on that date. But a friend said they are giving the anti-theft free for one yr and then will change for it after that. I need to investigate all this when I get a chance.

"We did a tour of the Kingston Penitentiary in Kingston, Ontario."
TD, that picture of the criminal in his cell. I could tell at once he was one of the worst.
Something about the eyes and that evil grin.

Re: Senseless Banter...
Mrs TD and I spent some time at MosaiCanada this morning. This is an exhibition of huge floral statues to celebrate Canada's 150th Anniversary. It was amazing.
The statues are mad from wire frames onto which is attached what like like "bags" of growing medium which I was told is a NASA formula but it sure looks a lot like MM but with perlite instead of vermiculite.

I can't believe my eyes, TD...that is truly amazing! I love the horses with their tails and manes. Were you able to look closely at those and see if the manes were planted grasses or what not?

Re: Senseless Banter...
I knew without looking at the poster's name, it had to be in Canada! Beautiful.
Re: Senseless Banter...
You will not believe what happened to me today.
I pulled in to get gas at the gas station. Having only cash I had to pay inside. As I was walking in, I noticed these 2 cops watching a guy who was smoking while pumping gas. I saw him and thought, "Is this man drunk, stupid, or just crazy?!! With the cops right there too?!"
But anyway, I went inside and paid. As I was checking out, I heard someone screaming, my gut knew what was happening. I looked out the window and the man's arm was on fire! He was swinging his arm and running around going crazy! As I went outside, I saw the officers take him to the ground and they put the fire out with their coffee!
Then they handcuffed him and threw him in the back of their police car. I, being the curious person that I am, asked the cops what they were arresting him for.
The officer looked me square in the eyes and said ........ "WAVING A FIREARM!"
