Hurricane season prediction
I've been saying for a couple of months now that I think hurricane season is going to be quite nasty this year. Already we have a named sub-tropical system...
(And I know you folks in the Plains are really getting hammered right now.)

Re: Hurricane season prediction
Atlanta Marie,
I'm afraid that I agree. It's probably, at least in part, because of the weak El Nino that has finally shown up, a year late! Of course, there may be other factors.

Re: Hurricane season prediction
I figured with the warm winter we were having down this way, it was bound to happen... It's already feeling like summer here.
They were saying on the news that sea temps off the GA coast are in the upper 70's - low 80's. I can imagine what's going on in the area where hurricanes are born.

Re: Hurricane season prediction
I recently read that the AMO has turned/is turning negative. As I understand things, that means more cold water/cold air. When this cold air collides with warmer air masses from the south, more hurricanes will form.
Please correct me if I'm in error.

Re: Hurricane season prediction
?? I have no idea.
I would like to say to those on the coast & in FL, if you have a camper, feel free to come & stay here if one heads your way.
For those who don't have campers, we've got a corporate rate set up at a hotel near us. Not sure if hurricane relief will get those rates, but I'd be happy to try for you.
