Re: Swiss Chard
I used a board last night and I only had a couple of millipedes under it this morning. So no surprise here.sanderson wrote:Dstack, Wood board or heavy piece of cardboard. You have to give it a try. You may be surprised what crawls up under them. You have rain basically all year around, correct.

Dstack, good.
Has, I put a little SP in theme. It's raining. I'll take an in-place photo maybe tomorrow.

Re: Swiss Chard
Sanderson, what is "SP" and "theme" mean in SFG?
dstack, have you found any other insects under the board?

Oh, crud. I should have taken the extra seconds to write out the name and proof read.
I put a little Sluggo Plus in them (baby food jars on their sides, opening pointed slightly downward). Makes a dry bait station.

Re: Swiss Chard
Nope. Just a couple of millipedes. I did the board test again last night with one end lifted slightly and the only thing there this morning was 1 millipede.has55 wrote:Sanderson, what is "SP" and "theme" mean in SFG?

Marc Iverson:
I remember you saying that and my thinking it was a really good tip. Now if I could only remember what I remembered without people reminding me to remember it, I wouldn't have so much trouble remembering stuff worth remembering
Sanderson:
Marc, I will take a photo and that will help you remember to remember what I told you to remember.
Martha: Priceless!

Re: Swiss Chard
I par boiled, chilled and froze these Kales and the rainbow chard. We can't keep up eating them but eventually we won't have any growing. Oh, I guess that's what a good home garden is for.

Well done, offer! You are amazingly good at this. Must be all the practice.
It baffles me that this late in the season my kitchen garden chard is still getting eaten. I'm guessing slugs because the cabbage butterfly has been gone for ages.

Re: Swiss Chard
I'm glad I didn't give up on my swiss chard. The past few weeks the millipedes have totally left it alone and my chard has been growing nicely again. Just had to report that good news.

I put mine out with the pansies I planted in an old bird bath. They didn't make it thru the freeze, unfortunately...

Mine are under 4 ft of snow at the moment. Wonder if they'll come back in spring...?
