Just a reminder to those of us in the Southwestern Deserts - with the "cold snap" we're experiencing, now is the time to make sure your garlic is in the ground!  These chilly overnights will get those cloves g(r)oing, and you should expect a harvest in about 6-8 months.

If you haven't bought garlic yet from the various online sources or local nurseries, you can always plant a supermarket favorite and cross your fingers!  I've had many a clove of store-bought garlic sprout in the fridge after being ignored too long. Smile

If you're like me, you can follow the old adage of "plant on the shortest day of the year, harvest on the longest day of the year", or even wait to January 1, just to make tracking your grow time easier.

Cheers!

I'll be planting in nine days, on the shortest day of the year.  Right now it's really wet out, and I don't want the cloves to rot.

I got a square planted on the 20th and will get another today. The garlic is from the braided summer harvest of grocery store garlic.
