Help! Potatoes taking over!
Morning all! I'm in Lavaca, AR (zone 7, I think) and this is my first SFG. My potatoes are growing like crazy and I'm afraid they are going to shade out my tomatoes(which are not growing as fast). What should I do? Can you prune potato plants? Or would that kill them? Any advice would be helpful.

Re: Help! Potatoes taking over!
Potatoes grow like weeds where I live. Generally, they don't get much more than 15 inches tall. They're hearty; just push them to the side for now. Your tomatoes will soon outgrow them.

Thanks, Boffer! They are at least that size now, so maybe they won't get much bigger.
I've mounded soil around the base and am now at about 10 inches in depth. Should I put more around them or stop at that? I have 2X12's on the outside of my bed, so I could go the full 12 inches. What do you think?
