Water container potatoes plants

Hi, I've posted my issues with how root dense my container potato plants, so I'll skip that. My question is - what is the best watering method? I've used several this season and I may pay for that later, but lessons learned and all that jazz...

It doesn't seem that drip irrigation or installing a water tube/pipe is going disburse the water properly, but please advise. Today I'm using the mist setting on hose, hanging it over the deck railing into the plant and leaving it in different places for 10-15 minutes. That means each plant is getting a mist watering for about 30 minutes. I stuck my finger in the middle and it is damp, but perhaps there's a better way that doesn't require me to babysit for hours to water six containers.

Yeah, I would just dump a gallon of water into each bucket every few days if it's hot and dry and monitor the moistness of the mix each day.

Thanks camprn. I guess I was trying to consider how fast to deliver the water. With tomatoes, we water deep. If I just fill a gallon container and slowly pour it around the container, should that be enough? Sorry if I seem as dense as my plants thinking

I would just use a bucket and dump it in. I have not got time to baby potatoes. The water will sink to where is needs to get to and the roots will find it. Economy of motion and time... Wink
