I'm back, with broccoli news
Well, I have been gone, but I did have retinal surgery on April 8. All is well with me, but I've used the time to try and catch up and recuperate.
The Packman broccoli that I put in has provided a harvest. And I think I figured out what I did wrong last fall. So it is gratifying. Right now, I've got some little side shoots on my plants!
Packman is pretty good, if not great. I never did see the cabbage worms show up. I guess our very cold winter added some confounding variables to the equation!
I have spinach, lettuce, green beans, and peppers. All in table-top SFG's. Thanks, Boffer.
My kale is beginning to bolt. I have finally learned how "not" to cook kale. I actually have a great kale recipe. It helps to be an omnivore.
First time trying nasturtiums from seed. I *think* I see them trying to bloom. I hope so. I want nasturtiums for my salads. And they are pretty.

Re: I'm back, with broccoli news
I wondered where you disappeared to-glad to hear your recovery is going well. I remember Ward saying table tops were the only gardening he could do after his eye surgery. No bending over, etc.
Well, now that you know how to grow plain jane broccoli, I look forward to hearing about the other types when you try them. I broke down and planted 6 packman from seed. They're doing great so far-maybe this will be the year I get excited about them! :|

Re: I'm back, with broccoli news
Welcome back. I'd love to hear your Kale recipe as I have several squares of it planted this year.
