I still have not planted the strawberry seeds I bought a few months ago. I also bought a package that looks like peat moss with lumps of things ( I have not opened it yet) that are to be planted to produce strawberries. I live in a northwest suburb of Chicago. Could I still plant these now to have plants next spring? The single plant I planted this spring has a few babies on runners from it I have not touched. Could I transplant them to another box? Does it depend on whether they have roots into the soil already?  Thank you for any advice. Ken

I added these to this container in July...It has taken well and lots of small growth is being developed.
I never planted stawberries before, just experimenting with Mel's Mix.
I'll leave it in the container and see how it goes next year.
Photo is in July
Maybe consider doing what you want, good experimenting

Thanks for writing back. Hopefully an experienced gardener can answer also. No reason not to try unless I decide to plant another fall vegetable in the box.
