Jung seeds/plants?
Has anyone had experience with Jung for seeds and/or plants? They are the only company so far that offers asparagus plants in batches of 10 (instead of 20)? This is my first attempt at asparagus and they show shipping 2-yr. plants, although I have read these are more susceptible to crown rot than are 1-yr. plants. Any experience on this?

Re: Jung seeds/plants?
All I know is that Jung seed has a 'relationship' with Square Foot Gardening, foundation, I guess. They came up with several seed packets with Mel, included a diagram for a SFG bed, for a good price. I purchased the kit, and the seeds all came up. I had to pay sales tax now, but I guess that's ok.
They are probably a good source of asparagus, for I think it grows wild in Wis. Just be sure the mm and ground underneath bed drains well, but, that goes for 1 yr old plants too.

Re: Jung seeds/plants?
I can not say anything about Jung. I would suggest that you go talk to a local nursery and ask them if they will carry asparagus crowns, and any advice they can give you on them.
I just did this today and they are going to try to order the variety I am interested in, and then I can get the dozen I want to try. They also gave me area specific planting advice. Our deep freeze here means the crowns need to be planted deeper.

Re: Jung seeds/plants?
I ordered kohlrabi seed from them last year and have another order to place with them again this year. I didn't have any issues. As far as I know, (and experienced) they're a very reputable seed company. I've not heard otherwise anyway
I will be giving this a shot this year:

Re: Jung seeds/plants?
Thanks for the replies. I ordered seeds and plants from them last night, as well as some from Territorial (for varieties Jung did not have). Since I am in MN and they are in WI, I think the asparagus will be appropriate for my area. Now if spring will just cooperate and be a little early this year, I can get my beds in place in time to plant the crowns when they arrive.
On their website (Gardener's Corner section), Jung is very specific about their relationship (or rather NON-relationship) with Monsanto, although advising that they do offer non-GMO seeds from Seminis Gardens They give a list of them in case you are adverse to doing any kind of business with Monsanto. I thought that was pretty up-front of them.

Jung is good, but there are better ones
We have ordered from Jung in the past. We try to patronize as many Wisconsin businesses as possible, since one of us hails from there. However, they do not have enough organic/heirloom varieties for our area.
We rely on the Southern Exposure Seed Exchange and have never been disappointed. They have specific varieties for the hot/humid climate we are faced with here. They also sell seeds better suited for other climates.
They are super responsive and very friendly to deal with. When we first ordered from them many years ago, we got a discount just by asking if there was one.

I thought Seminis was in Monsanto's back pocket. Didn't they buy up Seminis a couple of years ago?

Re: Jung seeds/plants?
I purchased asparagus crowns from them last year (garden center since they have physical locations here). I've been very happy with the asparagus and various seeds I've purchased through them. Agreed on the comment on the heirlooms--I get those from Baker Creek and Botanical Interests.
Regarding the Monsanto question, they released a statement and list this year answering that question:
