Planting Time!

I have decided to plant by the moon this yr, as much as possible.
I planted carrots, beets, onions, leeks, scallions, and radishes today. Tomorrow I'll plant peas, spinach, lettuce, mustard greens, and any other cool weather plants I have seed for.
I know, winter has not been here yet, but, my daffodils and snow crocus are coming up. Most of what I planted can handle the cold here, especially the 'snow peas'.
Does anyone plant by the moon phases?

I'm giving it a go for the first time as well. Although it's a bit different between the US and down here in Australia. I'm waiting until the 15th and 16th before planting my leaf crops for the 'Waxing fertile 1st quarter' according to the website that I found for moon gardening.

Last year I followed moon planting and thought I identified some difference.
Now that I have retired I intend to be more diligent and give it a decent try. Will have the time to keep records and grow some seeds any old way to get a comparison.
Since I started my new garden in August I have been keeping a tally of production of each variety and giving it a "shop" value as I often had conversations about "what is a garden worth ?" "is it worthwhile?"
My tally has just gone over $500 since first harvest in Sept. There is probably that much in the garden as well.
Just about to start growing my own seedlings so was ready the moon charts today.Will keep you informed.

I could not locate a regular calendar that shows the moon phases or zodiac signs, so I just used the farmers almanac. I'm going to 'try' to keep a log to see if it works this yr. I do know that if I use the frost dates for this area, I am the last person getting my garden in the ground. The large farms have everything planted before last frost date.
Maybe planting earlier will get me ahead of some of the bugs!

I tend to watch for when the local farmers plant as well. I live in cabbage country so get a good idea of when to plant brassicas.

I watch the corn farmer for warm crops.

Constantly the best tomatoes I have are the earliest. Last year I had to protect the early planting three times from frost, but they went on to make a great yield, while later tomatoes had very poor production. In the South, getting tomatoes is a race with heat and disease.

Litttlejo , Put " phases of the moon calender "into google

There are are several scenarios to look into . I like to pictorials that show the phases along with dates and were I to follow that route I'd simply transfer the pertinent dates to my own diary /calender as there are only 13 lunar months in each year

I planted some seeds on the 15th and the packet of Radicchio seeds said 8 to 12 days til they germinated... 4 and a half days later I had 4 little Radicchio and 4 Endive seedlings. Needless to say I'm very happy with my moon plantings so far
