Completely New to Gardening
Hello there,
My name is Amanda. I'm from upstate New York, just north of Syracuse. My family (which is my mother and I along with our significant others and my niece) recently moved into a big, gorgeous house located on three acres of very lovely land. I was planning to start gardening because I had all this space, how could I not? In the midst of making plans my neighbor/landlord came over with her book about SFG. And well, let's just say I don't do things part way!
So, I started off my gardening endeavors with big ole, SFG-style boom!
I created eight raised beds, mixed up my own batch of MM, fenced the whole set up, planted, squared, and trellised it all. I’ve been reading this forum taking tips along the way. I’ve been super nervous about critters, but thus far I haven’t had much trouble. My largest and yuckiest invader is the slug! I have beer set up for them, and more trapping mechanisms to come some.
I thought it might be high time I introduce myself. So here I am! Figuring this all out as I go, because I’m clearly not a natural born gardener… but I do love it!

Welcome to the forums...and it is high time you introduced yourself.
I lived in Schenectady for a few years back a while ago. Actually a great place for gardening.

Welcome to the forum. And good for your neighbor for introducing you to a gardening method that is so easy. Is the neighbor a forum member?

I don't believe she is. They have horses and tons of family stuff going on so I don't think she gets on the computer much. I've already told her a ton I've what I've read here, tips and things. So we're helping each other out!
