Stringing vertical frames
Noob question: when running the vertical lines of twine on a vertical frame, do we need one line for every single plant? Obviously each tomato needs its own, but what about densely planted squares like peas and cucumbers? Do we need to run 8 strings for each square of peas, and 4 for each of cucumber?
Also, we can't seem to get the lines real tight. Is that important, or is a little play in the lines ok initially?

Re: Stringing vertical frames
I've never strung cukes, but I would think the weight of the plant would dictate a dedicated string just like tomatos. Peas and bean can maybe share some strings. I used to just put up poles at 3-4 ft intervals and tie a string across the bottoms, through the middles and across the tops. Then I would make a series of string W's using the horizontal strings for a base. Peas and beans just grabbed a bit of string and kept climbing, sometimes straight up and sometimes crossing over a string or two. End result was almost a wall of plants.
