A neighbor asked if the decorative form of sweet potatoe produces tubers and if they do are they edible. So I'm asking here, do they and are they?

Sometimes they do and they will not harm you if you eat them, but supposedly they taste terrible, not sweet, and very starchy.

I stuck my tubers in a plastic bag last year and some of them sprouted. So I put the tubers in cups of water and got some roots on the tubers and a number of slips per tuber. Enough for my flower pots, my DIL's flower pots and a few for my daughter. I cut the slips off and rooted them in water.
