potato - potato question Empty potato question

About a month or so ago I planted, inside the house some potato parts in a big black pot. At the same time and the same type of potato I planted some in make shift pots. The ones in the black pot grew like crazy...tall, tall. The ones in the other pots did not do much...from these I have 4 out of 8 plants just starting, maybe 4" high. They are all outside now.

Why do you think they grew differently? It is very perplexing to me. Anyway I hope I get lots of potatoes.

Thanks for anyone that can give me an explanation.

Were both pots filled with the same mixture? Were they different sized pots?

I have mounded mine once already, and with the latest batch of rain they took off... I may have to just fill the barrel with soil soon as they are growing like weeds...

The one that grew well was in a large pot, the others were in individual small pots, big pot was black and the others white. Same mix in all.

Perhaps that is the answer, tegaan.
