I am getting ready to fill in around the outside of my boxes with mulch and looking at getting either a Natural Cedar or Pine mulch. Is one better than the other?

I like pine straw (pine needles) because my garden is on a hillside, and the water won't wash the pine straw away as it does other bark or shredded wood mulches. I'm about to use some around my beds for grass/weed control.
