trial run
So, since my aging eyes and the wind are not cooperating with me to get carrot seeds sowed directly in the ground, i'm trying something else. I know you can make seed tape, but I decided to make a seed sheet to fit my SFG square. I just used a cheap paper napkin, flour, water, and seeds. I wanted to try it before carrot week and should have some results before I plant the Nantes.
Here they are in my boxes on 3/29
And of course a good watering by my favorite gardener in training.
And if all goes well we'll do the same here in a week or so

Are you covering the paper with 1/2 " of MM ?
Beware of leaving any paper showing for it will tend to make a wick that takes lots of water out the bed.

Yep. It's covered. I was concerned with the wind blowing it-I didn't think about wicking. Its an experiment so i'll make notes for the final run-lol. I think I might put some plastic over it to keep it warmer at night and hopefully speed up germination a bit.
