High deset success

Hello,

We just moved to Mojave CA. This year’s garden will be a challenge, so I was looking for anyone willing to share ideas on plant varieties that do better with our high heat and high wind. Just getting started now, but the kids and I are looking forward to a fun ear of gardening and learning Smile

for sure next year I will have some feedback on what works for us and what doesn't. Stay Tuned, and I look forward to suggestions.

I had to check out this post. High deset......you must mean High desert.

I'm in the northeast so can't help but I'm sure those in your area will be chiming in soon. Good luck with your gardening.

to the forum! How nice of you to join and promise updates on how your garden grows there in the high desert. My mom lives in Las Vegas, Nevada and just started her first SFG this week. Is that the same kind of climate? (Don't laugh, I'm incredibly geographically challenged. Embarassed

Technically you are in so CA so check our our area of the forum, but also check the southwestern desert areas. If you search for posts by ASFx in Las Vegas and Duhh in Arizona you will find some amazing gardens growing in desert areas with some good ideas.

I live in the high desert in North Central AZ. Shade cloth or garden cloth is a helpful way to protect against the heat and the wind in our area. I got it at a local nursery. This will be good for new plantings, transplants, and cool weather crops when it gets warm (lettuce, spinach, etc.)
