Anyone use one of these...
Have any of you used these potato bags? These are by Ferry-Morse and run $8 at Wally World. I'm thinking of trying them out, but wanted some feedback first. Thanks.

Re: Anyone use one of these...
I just planted for the first year my potatoes in a patio potato grow bag (from the UK, which looks very similar) so I'm hopeful, my parents have used them (and they are common and popular in the UK).

potato bags
We've used something similar in the past with fairly good results. Last year we decided to build a potato box that increase in height as the plants grow until they flower. Our results were so good with that method that this year we are building two more.

Very nice Curio!

Question for Curio
Wow! Curio, that's great. I've had a row garden for awhile and this year i'm converting to SFG. My potatoes last were ok-but not great I'm sure I didn't hill them enough and the ground is a bit hard. I was thinking of building boxes, but these bags would be easier to store and move if needed.
Question-Curio how many potatoes did you plant in that 2 X 2? I will be planting Red Norland, Yukon Gold, Blue Adirondacks, and Jewell SP. I'm trying to figure out if I want to to built four 2 X 2 or go with bags.

number of seed potatoes planted
We planted 10 tubers of each variety last year in the same box (one on each side), so roughly one pound each. This year we will be planting 2 pounds of each, with their own boxes.

Re: Anyone use one of these...
Great-thanks. I'm leaning toward trying the bags and planting 4 seed potatoes per bag. We'll see. lol
