Newbie fromCentral PA!
Hello All From Central PA ~~~~~
We finally have our OWN (always rented) property to do as we please! The garden area hubby made is about 14x20'. I started small last year. I did tomatoes, cukes & cabbage. This year I have watermelon, pumpkin, cukes, tomatoes, sunflowers, green beans, and maybe a few others. We've had alot of rain; so start-up has been delayed; even for my neighbors who are garden masters compared to me!
Pretty darn proud to say, I built 2 trellis' for my tomato plants; and one for my sunflowers!
I'm trying to learn all I can & am looking forward to reading all this site has to offer!

Re: Newbie fromCentral PA!
zingercan from another recent newbie on this forum.
Great bunch of people and they try to answer any questions you may have, sometimes within minutes, or at least ASAP.
Isn't it great to have your OWN property? all you have to worry about are the neighbours.
I will let the senior memebers welcome you now.

Very nice to "meet" you.
Sounds like a pretty big garden area. Are you setting up Square Foot Gardening Beds in that area? I hope you have had a chance to read ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING. It really is a great book about a great method of gardening that is simple to understand and lots easier than row gardening.
Will you post pictures of your tomato trellis, we always are interested.
This is a pretty great group of people, so please ask if you have questions. Keep us updated on your progress and share pictures too!
Again, Welcome!

Re: Newbie fromCentral PA!
from your neighbor to the south in MD.
I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Welcome to the forum!! Guess you could say I am one of the more 'senior' members of the group. I did turn 60 this past March. LOL! Although Kelejan is OLDER than I am, I have been on the forum longer than she has. So who's to say which of us is the senior member?

Welcome Zingercan,
I'm so glad you found us. I hope you have read ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING to echo Furbalsmom. The people here are very helpful and have a great sense of humor but we are no replacement for Mel. Hope to see pics of your garden soon. What are you growing?

Re: Newbie fromCentral PA!
Gwynn, naturally I defer to the members who have far more experience in SFG than I do.
I am always willing to learn from those with more knowledge and experience.
Did I tell you I made a mistake when I filled in my profile? My computer made a mistake and made me 20 years older than I am.
I sometimes tell lies, too.

Computers have a way of doing things you don't want them to. I am constantly frustrated by mine although I have never had it say I am older than I actually am.
I sometimes tell lies, too. REALLY? Well, you know what they say.....admitting that you have a
problem is the first step in getting help. or something like that.
