OK I know things could be much worse, just ask folks in MO, but we had a huge storm and the hail just shredded my SFG. Everything was so beautiful, big and hardy. My onions are cut to o pieces, melons and cukes and tomatoes full of broken branches. Peppers lying down, ect. But I know we are blessed. All we lost in the house was one window, some wet furniture, and one huge old tree down, so really, I am thankful.

Do y'all think the plants that are blown over but still intact will raise back up? Will the melons with broken branches come out of it, and is it too late to replant cukes and melons in east TN?
Lowes will be very busy this weekend with people replanting gardens I think.

Trim and prop everything up that still has branches and leaves, wait a week to see if any new growth come forth and if not, buy plants or reseed. Replace what is completely broken off. And no, it is not too late, but your garden may be delayed. Heartbreaking, but not devestating.

Time will tell about the plants. But, be prepared to replant things.

I'm sorry to hear of anyone's garden/house suffering damage. But, happy to hear that you dodged the bullet.

Tornado? Or, just straight wind/hail damage?

I think it was just straight wind/hail. We live down in a hollow and have never in the 20 years we have lived here had a storm like this one. Never, ever had to take cover before either, but we did today. It happened so fast, there was no time to go to the basement. We hunkered down in a central hallway with couch cushions and pillows. It was the first time I have ever been scared of a storm in this house. Strange weather!
