Morning. I was hoping to get some seeding done tonight after work. We are expecting rain for the next 3 days though. Is it wise to plant tonight or should I wait a few days? Thanks.

Personally, I like to plant seeds before it rains.....just did last night. I don't do it if we are supposed to get lots of heavy rains though and risk them washing away. It keeps the seeds moist for germinating. Good luck!

If it's going to be a huge storm, or if it going to be raining constantly for 3 or more days, I wait. My first planting this year was washed away because I planted and that very night it rained. I had to start all over 1.5 weeks later when I realized nothing was germinating.

Looks like it will be light showers and chances of thunderstoroms over the next couple of days. I think I will take my chances. If it gets heavier I will cover my box with cloth to lesson the impact of the rain. Thanks for the input.

Were you able to get some planting done? Did you get much rain? We had three days straight of rain this week. It did not stop at all. Yesterday morning though, they had that awful "S" word at the higher elevations here. I love living down in the valley in the smog! LOL!

I will often plant if it is going to rain. Saves me watering the seeds and keeps them from drying out too much. Sometimes I even plant IN the rain if it is not raining too hard or is not really windy. Just have to keep the other packets of seeds dry.

I had hoped to get the potatoes planted earlier this week but it was just way too wet. If it doesn't rain again tonight or tomorrow, I will do them when I get home from work. Today would have been a good day to do it, but this working for a living SUCKS! It cuts into my gardening time!! My job is so physical that a lot days, by the time I get home I am bagged. This week has been super busy so I haven't got the planting done that I had hoped too.

Best of luck.
