Favorite Strawberry Varieties?
I'm new to northern Alabama and to growing strawberries. I've done vegetables before, further north, but never fruit. What strawberry varieties have you had success with? (I tried asking my neighbors - one of whom had success and one of whom didn't - but neither one knew what variety they used and neither one was using SFG Did you use Mel's recommended spacing or traditional spacing?

Re: Favorite Strawberry Varieties?
I planted Tristar, an everbearing stawberry and I mostly picked off the blossoms
last year, but did sneak a few and they taste great. I was told the other day that Tristar is the best. But I live in Canada so don't know if you can get them or not.

In the Maritime Northwest....
For fruit, Rainer’s (they can be buggers to keep strong as plants) Otherwise, whatever is fresh and local.
I generally grow mine in hanging containers or tubs with non-traditional spacing. Until the day that I have a dedicated box I prefer to only grow single season produce in my boxes. I do use MM to grow my contained fruit, just not boxes.
Debs....watching strawberries outside of my window grow. I think they are shivering.
