They're sprouting, they're sprouting!
Oh, the joy of a first time early season planting, thinking everyone one nuts (especially when the snow started falling during one planting episode)..
.. but my peas, my onions, and my spinach did not freeze, they did not die... THEY ARE SPROUTING!!!!

Re: They're sprouting, they're sprouting!
I am right there with you. The traditional planting date here in Northern AZ is Mother's Day, but I planted sugar snap peas, onions, lettuce, spinach, cauliflower, cabbage, and chard already. It snowed here yesterday and it is supposed to get to 25 tonight. I have milk jugs covering them and I have Christmas lights over them. I hope they live!

They're sprouting, they're sprouting!

Isn't that one of THE BEST feelings???
I am always like a wide eyed little child when my seeds sprout.
It amazes me such enormousness comes from a seed. A sprout. A plant. Fruit. More seeds.
Just blows my mind every time.

I feel exactly the same way. Sometimes I just stare at my plants in awe...

Re: They're sprouting, they're sprouting!
whoooooooooooooooooooooo hoooooooooooo!
I planted a few things this weekend. My honey and our middle boy planted a whole bed of peas, carrots and radishes then I planted 3 squares in one box...with red onions, yellow onions and mariogols. Still waiting for the tomatoes to plant around it and we are discussing whether or not I get to put herbs in there
HE doesn't want perennials in the bed because it ruins the crop rotation theory... I want herbs in there because they are companions to tomatoes and I want herbs
lol...

I have some perennial herbs in my SFG.. the answer is pretty simple... just don't rotate those squares!
if you want herbs, you should have herbs! LOL.

Just put them in a pot and bury the pot up to the lip in the square - you can pull it out and move next year (or pull it inside if the winter gets too cold) when you rotate the plants that it is a companion to...

Re: They're sprouting, they're sprouting!
LOL...I am so thankful I don't have to share my garden with anyone. I can just tell my hubby to butt out.
But on a more positive note...ashort had a good idea!
Maybe you need a perennial SFG? One 4X4 you can put all the stuff he doesn't want in there? That'll make him be quiet.
Maybe I should log off for a while....I am in a mood. LOL
