My New Compost Box
I'm about to start SFG for the first time (first time ever gardening!) and I've been playing with the idea of composting. I had decided that for now I just want to get my boxes going and that once I do, I may consider starting to compost. Many years ago my ex-husband bought one of the giant composting barrels, but I knew that I did not want nor could afford one of those now. While at Sam's Club today I came across a compost box and it was only $40! I Googled it right there in the middle of the store and saw that it got great reviews on Amazon and it cost $75 through them. So, of course I purchased it! My boyfriend put it together for me tonight, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Here are a couple of pictures.

Awesome, looks like you got a great deal! I'd live to give composting a try myself one of these days.

Re: My New Compost Box
I think my wife saw one and asked if I wanted to get it. I told her not at this time because I think mine was more than $40. What a great find!
As for composting, I HIGHLY recommend it. It's one of those things, imho, that is as time-consuming as you want it to be. My grandfather never turned the stuff. I turn mine quite often. We both have great compost, though.
What composting does for a SFG is gives you 1/3 of your mix, over time, virtually free of charge. After it's up and running, that compost gives you your replenishing scoop without having to break out a bag of store-bought stuff.
If it were me, I would put composting in as a fundamental part of SFG. But, alas, my name isn't Mel....lol.
