Something is wrong with my garden
I planted my seeds FOUR days ago, and NOTHING has happened. What's going on? I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that it's been mostly cold and raining since Sunday.
Siiiiiigh.....
I forgot about how hard the waiting part is; I've only had bulbs and other perennials in my garden for the past two years so things just show up on their own schedule and I'm happy to see them.

I feel your siiiiigh and add an i. Sometimes I think I could write a whole blog about the hurry up and wait part of gardening ....oh, wait, I have.

Re: Something is wrong with my garden
One possible cause is that you filled out the plant marker, stuck it in the soil, and forgot to put the seeds in!
Yep, I've done it more than once!
(patiently waiting is not easy)

Re: Something is wrong with my garden
depending on what you planted will depend on the time frame the seed packets usualy give you a rough estimate on seed germination time and planting depth those 2 items will factor in to how long befor you see sprouts. The waiting is the worst part but to me starting from seed is a sense of accomplishment, when i look back at the size of the seed i used and see this huge plant abundant with veggies it makes me smile and feel good about all the hard work i put in

Oh I know, I'm just being silly. It's going to be at least another week or two before I REALLY expect anything. Maybe longer, we had to scrape the cars this morning.

But just think about the euphoria that overcomes you when you walk out there after a bad day and see... little green nips trying to poke their heads through the soil!
Re: Something is wrong with my garden
alicorn2, where are you located? I just planted 3 squares with carrots, and 20ft of peas... I feel ya on the waiting, and we're expecting some gross weather in the next two weeks here. I'm in Ontario, Central/Eastern...

Birds? Those are the least of my worry, I have a formidable enemy in the form of an oversized guinea pig.

Oh, Alicorn, I feel your pain!
Your remind me of my old boss - when his car wouldn't start, he said "Something must be wrong with the key!"

I have SPROUTS!
I planted on March 14 and today is March 26 and I have three squares with sprouts in them today! My radishes and two kinds of lettuce. I think the radishes must have sprouted a couple of days ago and I missed it as they're fairly large and actually look like small leaves, but the lettuce is teeny little green pinheads.
Woo hoo!
