Last fall, and again this fall, I planted my Hyacinth bulbs in regular plant pots (the ones that come from the nursery) and planted the pots in my empty boxes. Some of the larger pots got more than one hyacinth - of different colors, while the smaller pots just got one.
By the time Mother's Day rolled around, I just removed the whole pot from the soil and brought the blooming plants, pots and all, in to the house, or gave away as gifts!!
The garden box was used all winter, and was free again for me in early spring!
When the plants died down, I stored them in my garage until my next fall planting.
I have done this with many other bulbs as well.
Have a great winter!!
