Sorrel
I have a packet of organic sorrel seeds, a plant I've never before grown.
After some research, I've read that it requires acidic soil and should be spaced 18" apart.
Has anyone grown sorrel in a SFG? If so, did you alter the pH of your Mel's Mix? What about spacing?

Mine grows just fine, I don't think it's that picky. I grow it in the "hole" of a concrete block - about 5" x 5" x 8" deep and it was pretty lush. If I had divided it in time, I wouldn't have had to replant by seed this fall!

How long is the taproot? I once had a parsley plant growing in my SFG that produced a 1' taproot. It did quite well, although that particular bed was quite deep to begin with.

I've got (green) sorrel seeds. How many plants per square? How soon before/after last frost? Direct, or indoors?
And should I bump my plans for this plant out of my SFG and into my landscape bed or perennial herb bed, instead of trying to grow it like one-third/half-season greens that I'll pull and replace with something else?

It is a perennial so prepare an area where they will live always, scatter the seed, sprinkle a little tiny bit of soil atop the seed, push the seeded area down with your palm, water and go on about your business. That's all there is to it.

About four years ago, I started a single sorrel seed in my SFG.
It took forever to sprout and get established. Two years ago, it had outgrown its square, so I transplanted that monster.
It's currently about 3' in diameter, and going strong.
