Farmer sued for growing too many veggies
My mom sent me this link today. It is about a farmer being sued by his county for growing too many vegetables. I suspect the true problem is the employees, but I thought it was interesting.

Sadly, it's pretty typical for DeKalb County...only East Cobb could outdo that.
(I agree with Megan's assessment..somehow when you have employees, it seems to cross the line between hardcore garden hobby and farm.)

Re: Farmer sued for growing too many veggies
I've been part of a discussion on this over at Homesteading Today. All is not quite as this article states. The problem was he lives in an area zoned for residential and was running a business including hiring employees. The problems have been ongoing since 2008, and the landowner apparently drug his feet into doing the paperwork to get the zoning changed. The zoning is now changed but he has to pay a fine for continuing to garden commercially inspite of being warned several times before he got the zoning changed.
Glad I live in a town with no zoning (except sometimes the neighbours goats get a bit smelly).

Amazing how neglecting to include certain vital information changes the whole picture. Gotta love that selective journalism.
