Construction/underneath the box
OK...getting my SFG garden going. New home, new boxes and bermuda grass as yard lawn.
My plan is to set the boxes (2x6's) with landscape fabric stapled to the bottom and then set these boxes on a layer of bricks (I have a lot).
Will this be OK? Will the water drain too fast, will the air below the boxes dry them out to quick?
I am guessing it may deter moles and weeds.

Consider tacking hardware cloth on the outside for strength and critter obstacle. I'm assuming that you are using the bricks as "legs" not a solid base.

It is a square of bricks....supporting the whole bottom of the box...if not if I only used it on the edges...the bottom would fall out.
Thanks,
Tim

I'm building 4' x 8' x 12" boxes, Table top height..I'm using cinder blocks as the legs only, with weed block and hardware cloth on the bottoms..Boffer mentioned to use 2x4's on every 16" centers, and I'm going to use that method... That should provide ample support for 10-12 inches of mels' mix throughout the box...Ifit don't I'll be the 1st one in here to say if it worked or didn't...

It will work fine. The soil mix will absorb what it needs. There will be little to no air flow to worry about.
