Just had to dig up some potatoes....
This is worse than waiting for Christmas! So tempting to cheat and take an early peak
I grubbed around and found a few potatoes near the surface in one square. They look pretty good if I say so myself. Pulled up a few carrots to go with them (and some bought asparagus and salmon steaks) so that is dinner sorted tonight!
The longest of the carrots is 24cm/9 1/2 inches which is pretty good going for me!

It is the most satisfying when you can actually USE the produce. Looks great.

Wow! Way to go. Before I became diabetic and potatoes were took off my menu, I used to love to grow them in a mixture of straw and compost in tires. Feeling around to "steal" them was one of my favourite activities. And there is nothing better than fresh potatoes right from the garden, steamed with butter and parsley. (Couldn't find a dancing 'tater)

Best potatoes
I think the best-tasting potatoes are always the first ones you grabble from under the plant.
Your dinner sounds wonderful.

Re: Just had to dig up some potatoes....
Your carrots are looking good, they're quite long too - mine weren't nearly as beautiful as yours!
I harvested my purple ones today though, and they're nice, though very different in size. One spot in particular must have been significantly better than the others...
They taste great! I sowed a new square right away!

Re: Just had to dig up some potatoes....
carrots come in all colours... this year I only have orange and purple, but next year I'm planning on trying the yellow ones and the atomic reds.
