BETWEEN my square foot gardens today. UGH! Evil or Very Mad

Due to various timing issues with installing the boxes, redoing flower beds etc...I was forced to wait to do anything with the paths between my SFG. I put them in an existing row garden which means now I have 2 foot tall weeds ALL OVER!!! Ugh. I am pulling as many as I can by hand around the boxes, then weed whipping between, and finally spraying with roundup that also keeps weeds away for 3 months. I think I am going to go with the thinnest layer of wood mulch between the rows. On the brights side, after 8 or so hours of hard work weeding, I should be done for the year. Not bad really when I think of how much weeding I would have done last year in my all row garden.

Oh....did I mention I have a whole garden of corn in a row garden to weed once I am finished

Here in Hawaii, the weeds grow year round. Do you have any good tips on how to weed any easier? ANYTHING will be welcomed.

I've been told several times to weed after it rains and the ground is soft but I have found that the opposite is true for me. Seems the weeds get dehydrated in the hot sun and release their hold on the soil.

I try not use anything non-organic. My little dog sometimes eats weeds and grass. He seems to have some sort of allergy to chemicals. If I use a Swiffer wet mop in the house, he starts honking like Felix Unger having a sinus attack!

I do use the vinegar, salt and Dr. Bronners soap mix for the weeds that I can't pull out successfully. I try not to use it too much as I heard it can ruin the microorganisims in the soil.

I love the old black plastic trick...it kills off everything underneath. They have an organic garden preen out now also that is even safe to use on corn. I was going to try it this year but I couldn't find the organic, just the regular. It's going to take me all day to weed Icon_sad
