The Battle Begins
Ok, here we go. I saw a worm and some flea beetle damage in my corn today. Nice try guys, but I have way too much time on my hands right now and you have no chance. I already planted radishes and have mint in planters in the garden. I will be buying Bt an possibly pyrethrin when I can but I will be d***ed if I am going to let the insects get the best of me this year. I don't mind sharing some, but not all.
The hardest thing for me are the corn earworms. I have never found a really effective deterrent, or maybe I haven't used the ones I tried properly. Any ideas there? Usually they are just in the top inch or so of the ear but they turn my stomach.

Chopper: In North Florida the "old timers" used to pry open the top of the ear of corn and put hot sand in the ear. "They" side it worked. I never tried it though.
