First Time Planting Seeds in SFG
Yesterday I mix up my first batch of Mel's Mix for my 12.6 cubic foot Elevated Raised Bed and it filled the bed right to the top with nothing extra. I used the below ingredients.
Today I planted my first set of seeds and my questions are: 1) Because Mel's Mix is so light and fluffy if it Rains over the next several days which is the forecast, do I need to cover the bed? 2) 2) Will the rain, if heavy disturb/damage the seeds?
Thanks
Frank

1 - When you say "Mel's Mix is so light and fluffy", did you completely soak the peat moss before adding it to the other ingredients? Did you moisten the mix with each layer you added to the raised bed so that it was moist throughout the bed? If the answer is "Yes" to both of those, it should not be "fluffy". But, no you do not need to cover the bed before it rains.
2 - It is not likely the seeds will be disturbed by the rain unless it is a real frog strangler.

I did not do any watering of Mel's Mix prior to filling the bed and only a little water when I added the seeds. It's starting to rain a little now so I guess I'm all set??
