I was thinking my attempt would be more like a low level hummingbird view of the garden.sanderson wrote:CN, you and TD can practice together. You don't have to go real high to get the whole property since you already did a Google shot.

Thanks, TD. Those are inspiring. I got most of my cleanup finished yesterday. Today I'll be working on the Salad Bar. Not much to see yet, but it's encouraging to see how much survived the winter.trolleydriver wrote:I was thinking my attempt would be more like a low level hummingbird view of the garden.sanderson wrote:CN, you and TD can practice together. Oops! Forgot one! The parcel below katie's -- only partly visible -- will go to our granddaughter. The sanctuary is on 2.5 acres. The other 3 are 5 acres each, but we might sell off half of our son's piece to the neighbor down the hill.

Drone camera is still in the box on a closet shelf.

Re: Bird's Eye View of Your Garden
LOL! We feel like land barrons. It was totally unintentional. We were perfectly happy on our little 2.5 acres, but the guy who owned all this before died and his daughter was very sentimental about it all staying together and going to someone who would love it, so she offered it to all the neighbors. We agonized for weeks before taking it on, and had several family meetings about it. Now, here we are.sanderson wrote:That's quite a family spread!

2 years later, that drone camera is still in the box, factory-sealed.countrynaturals wrote:YIKES! I completely forgot about that Xmas drone! Re: Bird's Eye View of Your Garden
I had a drone with a camera. As I was in drone pilot training on its second test flight, my brother said something and I turned and said "WHAT" and when I looked back I could hardly see my drone and started running through people's backyards to catch up to it and worried the whole time about losing my drone. I don't know why I was worried, we have plenty of trees in Connecticut. The trees just made it harder to find my drone in the woods, it had a camera but no flashing lights or beeping sound which would have been genius. Well I sent away for replacement parts and they were quick to arrive over a year ago. I am just trying to figure out if I am too old to be a drone pilot because the one thing I learned on that fateful day after I got my breath back, I am not chasing another drone ever, I am too old and wise for that. What my brother said in case you were wondering was, " I think your drone is out of range".

It is my understanding that they have some smart ones now that will return to you automatically before they run out of battery life

Re: Bird's Eye View of Your Garden
ralitaco, I can see the value in having a drone if I was designing gardens of one kind or another and even though prices have come down, we still have a lot of tree where I live. If they had one with a laser that could zap insect pests, I could be persuaded to change my mind and open the wallet and if it would shoot tranquilizer darts that would anesthetize woodchucks, I would camp out overnight in front of the drone store for that model. Mine connected with my smartphone but it didn't make me look any brighter while running through the neighbors' backyard.
