February 2017 Avatar: Time to Wake Up!
It wasn't easy finding anything awake yet, but just when I was about to give up, I found this little guy waiting by the faucet for the horse area. It's about the size of a nickel.

Speaking of snow storm ... here is what my SFG and other veggie area looks like after the recent snow and ice storm.

Looks like something trying to wake up in the lower left corner. I'm in shock here, going from this to newbeone's 90 degree posting about shade cloth. (Giggle -- no pun intended about the 90 degrees.)trolleydriver wrote:Speaking of snow storm ... here is what my SFG and other veggie area looks like after the recent snow and ice storm.

CN ... I believe that is a small holly plant in Mrs TD's flower garden.countrynaturals wrote:Looks like something trying to wake up in the lower left corner. Re: February 2017 Avatar: Time to Wake Up!
OK so I finally found something alive! Other than my mache, which is AMAZING!
It is my neighbors ghost lilies! They grow. Just the green part, in spring, and then later, in July these bare stalks appear with awesome pink flowers atop the stalk! No foliage with the blooms! So strange!
I will take pics!

I found the first sign of spring when I pulled back the bridal tulle - a white butterfly!
Re: February 2017 Avatar: Time to Wake Up!
I thought the tulle was for keeping them on the outside.sanderson wrote:I found the first sign of spring when I pulled back the bridal tulle - a white butterfly!

I have some of those too from my Grandma's garden (she passed in 1983 so mine are pretty old). They just keep multiplying. She called them "Naked Ladies" so that's what I call them. She was also a gardener, but it was a survival thing not a hobby. I can remember her cellar being full of jars she had canned. Our favorite gift from her was her pickled peaches.Scorpio Rising wrote:OK so I finally found something alive! Other than my mache, which is AMAZING!

Cruel, CC. You could have covered it and given it a little time to live. Actually, I did laugh, a little bit.
Re: February 2017 Avatar: Time to Wake Up!
heehee...I left the middle and it's still growing...so he's OK. I just ate most of the leaves.
We need a new March Avatar thread. What's a good topic? Is it 'wearin the green'? I like that. Who wants to start the thread? Anyone?

@CapeCoddess go ahead and start an avatar theme for March and I'll try and finish it up later this evening. Hopefully I can find something green soon...
