Dog Vomit Fungus - a slime mold
walked outdoor this morning and found this fungus in my mulched walkway and some on my watermelon stems that were growing across the mulched.

I had it last summer, panicked, looked it up, found out it was harmless, then ignored it. It went away after a week or so and never came back.

I had this repulsive looking stuff the first year I put down wood chips. I read up about it and I have never had it since, even when laying down fresh wood chips.

It is growing on my soon to be composted straw bale! Already composting, I guess! Yay, Nature.

I found a clump of this stuff in my compost bin several months ago. Fortunately, from my meanderings here, I knew what it was and wasn't unduly alarmed.
