Newbie in Shoreview, MN! First official garden ever!
Hello! I'll be starting my very first official garden this year! I found this website yesterday, bought the book today, and will be picking up the vermiculite/compost/peat tomorrow!!
I have logs to use for my box, but I have not decided where to put it yet!! And I havent decided what to plant yet either! Yikes!!! Can I still start seeds? or do I need to buy plants? So much to learn! So excited to grow something other than tomatoes in a pot!!
Yippee!!!

Welcome!!! I'm so glad to see more people from the twin cities on here/doing SFGing!!
This is only my second year doing SFG, so I'm definitely still learning as I go. As for what to plant...what kind of veggies do you like to eat? You can start beans, peas, cucumbers from seeds in your garden. I would probably buy tomatoes and peppers from the garden center....that's all I got for ya! Good luck with getting everything together---hope the rain stays away!

Ah Yes the beautiful Twin Cities.
Welcome and glad to have you on the forum. We are trying to convert my wife's sister to SFG as she loves to garden and with a thriving dental practice in the Cities she has limited time. S-I-L is a bit hard to convert, but, she is coming around.
If you have questions about SFG bring them on.
God Bless, Ward and Mary.

Re: Newbie in Shoreview, MN! First official garden ever!
Hi from MN too!!! Most things can be planted from seed still. Many around here don't plant until Memorial Day weekend normally. There are a few that you will want plants instead of seeds including tomato and peppers. I have a few suggestions for your compost---I finally found 5 different sources--Cub Foods, Home Depot (has two composts), Menard's, and any flower/green house will carry a brand (this will be more expensive). Menard's out in Buffalo has been carrying the course vermiculite out in the garden section for $12.50 and also had the best price on the peat moss. (If you can't find the course vermiculite in the garden section, talk with the building supply order desk in the store since they are the ones that stock it)
Can't wait to see some pictures !!
