Mid-Atl - Oct 2015 - Seed Saving
Are you saving seeds from your harvest?
SEED SAVING
SEED SAVING
I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

I save all my good tomato seeds. Got my hands on a few WV63 tomato so I saved some and will try a few out this fall to see if they are successful.

Floyd, what are WV63 tomatoes? I've never heard of them. How do they taste? Are they prone to splitting?
Re: Mid-Atl - Oct 2015 - Seed Saving
They are a medium size red tomato and are excellent slicers. I got them from a member, haven't seen her on this forum for a while, and she sent me a few so I tried them that year and liked them!
Back them I was over whelmed with the seeds catalogs and all the different varieties so have been trying new stuff, different colors and types, so I never bothered to plan them again due to only having 2 boxes.
I like the WV63 for sandwiches but my wife picks the green for fried green tomatoes
Still waiting to see them in a seed catalog but I think the only place you can get the seeds is from the WV agricultural department. I will have to check that out again.

DH wants me to make fried green tomatoes with my Amish Pastes... Yours sound a whole lot better. I'll check the WV Ag Dept as well.
How acidy are they? (He doesn't like the acid types - much prefers sweet!)
Thanks!

I never noticed them being overly acid.Seemed pretty mild.
Actually I have an orange one that is sweeter IMHO though.

Oh? Do you know the name of it, Floyd?
It's difficult reading thru the seed mags for non-acid types. It's so subjective....
Thanks!
